ABOUT ME

I am a former molecular biologist that always dreamed of being a therapist after my own positive experience in counseling after a painful divorce and infertility. After many years in both scientific sales & medical laboratory research, a traumatic spine injury caused me to leave that profession for surgeries, full-time physical therapy and rehabilitation for three years. After quite literally getting back on my feet, I attended Capella University & graduated in 2012 with an MS Mental Health Counseling & additional Certification in Marriage & Family Therapy.
My experience as a graduate intern was at Family Intervention Specialists, Inc. took place in clients' homes with children, teens, and families with many different types of mental health issues ranging from life adjustment to change to schizophrenia. I was also able to do work with women who had survived domestic violence & toxic relationships, finding this work particularly rewarding. During this time, I volunteered leading a group for LGBT teens & their parents through The Rainbow Center and worked with Bernard Kynes, LMFT in Decatur with a women's growth group. I continued at FIS, Inc. after graduation while also working part-time with A Place for Me Counseling in Atlanta, GA. I have worked primarily in grief, loss, & trauma at North Pines Center since 2014 in Norcross, GA. During my time at North Pines Center, I endured a great loss that has given me more insight as a grief counselor that I bring to the table with my clients to normalize, validate, and process the harsh feelings of grief and loss. I currently am taking NEW CLIENTS at Healing Psychotherapy Associates, Inc. in Kennesaw, GA.
I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC 0462) in Georgia I am supervised by Don Durkee, LPC CPCS.
